exactly one month until our departure.

friday the.

we ordered our plane tickets last night. we're officially departing from the east coast on november 1st. at the end of august, we're moving back to our homes until november. soooo many things to do before then! and things to bring, and things not to bring. lots of list making, consolidation, and odd jobs. time spent with those who i'll miss so dearly. address gathering. calm and anxious.

today is john huckin's birthday and it's nice outside so we'll see what unfolds. ben's napping, i'd like some oatmeal and it's not too hot quite yet. my neighbors had a yard sale the other day and i picked up this working 4x5 for extra cheap. oh me oh my!

everybody's got something to hide except for me and my monkey

butterflies in my stomach for days. things have happened and they're happening. first friday was lovely, haley and dani came down and we got great. lots of walking and talking these last few days. been feeling a bit antsy and claustrophobic in this favorite city of mine. i'm anxious to pack lightly and head onward to a new city, a new ocean, more space than ben and i have every experienced living together, backyard gardens, reasonable temperatures, exploration, tasty treats, and bike riding. the more that i walk around portland these days, the more i realize how much it's changed. i'm ready for a bigger city, more people, more diversity, and more challenges. although i enjoy seeing some of the people who i walk by and chat with at least every other day in this city, there's been an influx of unenjoyable people, circumstances, and situations. and in such a small city, these unfavorables have become difficult to avoid. on the other hand, i realize i will be surprised and overwhelmed by the vast amount of people to meet. and so i know i will miss this place a whole lot.

scanned some film yesterday....new years day, swimming in ponds, diners, abandoned nursing homes and graveyards.

remember be here now

ben and i are officially moving to the mission district in san francisco california for free in exchange for childcare for 2 bombass kids at the end of october. i mostly can't believe it and am unexplainably grateful to our hosts for their generosity. we'll be living in a studio below the house with a loft, kitchen, bathroom and patio. it's crazy talk. it'll be the first time in about 2 years that either one of us has lived without 390283 other people and in a space that is 3 times as big as our entire current apartment. i'm unbelievably excited but also quite sad to be leaving behind a whole lot of folks i love. we plan to relocate our sustainable street art business and to continue to screen print and all that jazz. a new city to explore and fall in love with, lots of new hooligans to meet, rooftops and underground tunnels...oh my my my!

i will miss portland dearly. and everyone in it. but the time has finally come for relocation, meeting the right people, and eventually setting off to travel the west coast any way we can.

California
Where the warm sun shines
California
Hear the wind blowing chimes
Californ-i-a
Though you’re far away
Your love is here today

...just a side note. this is a bingo card from a previous "bingo in the park" which happens in dolores park in the mission every so often. i think it's really great.
